Marcuskraal 4x4 and Camp Site, Citrusdal
August 2021

6 August – 9 August 2021
Marcuskraal is a wonderful campsite with lots and lots of orange trees laden with oranges. The plots are fairly level. The ablutions are spotless, modern and have a constant supply of hot water, hand soap and sanitizer. Well done Marcuskraal. It is campsite we would certainly camp at again.

Campers arrived safely in good weather and set up camp. By the end of the evening, we had 8 caravan and trailers.
Friday soup night was a combination of soups mainly butternut but was it delicious. Thank you, Jacky for the garlic flat bread. Fires were lit for the meat or sausage to be braaied for those still hungry. Everyone sat around the fires and then later off to bed.

Saturday morning, we awoke to another lovely day of clear skies. After breakfast campers set off in different directions. Some took the road to see the Boegoeberg 4x4 Camp, others went sightseeing on the agterpaaie of Citrusdal and Clanwilliam. Some went to the shops to purchase some odd and ends they required for lunch or supper. There were beautiful white, yellow and orange carpets of flowers to see everywhere. Absolutely stunning.
Early evening Wayne set up his computer to enable to watch the Springbok/British Lions match. Fires were started for the supper braaiing. It was lovely to sit as a group with the men getting excited and stressed re the Springboks. Glad they won! A pleasant evening was had by all.

Sunday morning was overcast and rain was expected. Brian Harris and Jade joined us and stayed the night. Five vehicles lead by Nigel left to do the Marcuskraal 4x4 trail, which was exciting and enjoyed by all and took around 4 hours to complete. There were some moments! Matthew and Edwin did well, and I am sure they leant a lot about 4x4 and their vehicles. Those that remained at the camp spend the day relaxing and chatting. Campers braaied and went to bed early as it was very cold.

Monday morning, we woke up to wet tents from rain during the night, but they dried quickly.
The camp meeting was held at 10am and thereafter there was birthday cake from Debbie W.
Thank you, Debbie for the lovely cake slowly.

Campers then packed up slowly and left for home. What an enjoyable campsite and
weekend even though the nights were cold.

L8 - DIE WATERGAT 25 - 29 April 2022

Club | News
Everyone arrived on Monday the 25 April. First the Lawrences and Bond-Smiths and then the Browns and Conradies in the morning and later in the day the Pieters arrived. We were fortunate to have the whole camp to ourselves the whole time we were there and had perimeter security beams that we could activate via remote at night with Vetus Scola on standby, should the alarm be triggered. The campsites have lovely green lawn, a boma with 2 fridges, work surfaces, 2 big benches and a huge firepit. The ablutions were 3 combined toilet and shower rooms, 1 shower room and 1 toilet all with individual doors. The weather was good and we had very little wind and every evening was spent round the fire and sitting eating our meal under the boma.
